A place with a restaurant: the project on Westermühlstraße, located in the vibrant Glockenbachviertel, marked my entry into inner-city housing development with Baustil Wohnbau as the client.
The project structure was characterized by a clear division of tasks: the Wöhr Architecture studio took over the crucial early performance phases up to the approval planning and thus created the legal basis for the project. The subsequent performance phases 5 to 9 were assigned to other parties by the developer, with the Wöhr Architecture studio retaining its role as design planner, maintaining artistic overall management and superordinate project management. This structuring proved so successful that it became the model for all subsequent joint projects with Baustil Wohnbau.
My particular highlight of the project was being entrusted with the conception and interior design of the restaurant. The developed design concept for the wine bar was convincing in its timeless quality – it has remained largely unchanged to this day.
A special challenge of this project was the disposal of industrial contamination from the electroplating company and the underground construction along the Westermühlbach creek, which was underground-routed by the city.
