A place with our office: in the prestigious Möhlstrasse in Munich's Bogenhausen district, the couple Dres. Wöhr GbR acquired a heritage-protected villa (built 1906) of remarkable architectural elegance, which was to receive a careful extension through a harmoniously integrated addition. The extension we designed includes a basement level, an impressive raised ground floor, and a set-back terrace level. Through the addition and renovation, the existing building was expanded by approximately 280 sqm of usable space for commercial and residential purposes. Until 2020, our architectural office occupied the basement level.

When designing the extension, special attention was paid to creating a harmonious connection between the historical building fabric and contemporary architecture, while clearly differentiating in the choice of materials. Therefore, the new building facing the garden was clad with natural stone panels of Travertine Noce and extensively glazed. The precarious parking situation was addressed by means of an small underground garage, with the car lift integrated into the former single garage.

Special challenge of the project: bringing the requirement for intensive coordination with the Monument Protection Authority into harmony with the client's ideas for optimizing the property.
